What is the difference between internal and external penetration testing?

  • Internal Penetration Testing: Simulates an attack from within the organisation’s network. It assesses the security of internal systems, user privileges, and network configurations.
  • External Penetration Testing: Simulates an attack from outside the organisation’s network. It evaluates the security of external-facing systems and defences.
