Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think and learn. These machines can perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and language translation. AI can be categorised into two types:
- Narrow AI: Designed to perform a narrow task, such as facial recognition or internet searches. Examples include Apple’s Siri and Google Assistant.
- General AI: Possesses the ability to perform any intellectual task that a human can do. It is still a theoretical concept and not yet achieved in practice.
AI technologies are rapidly advancing, with applications spanning various industries, including healthcare, finance, retail, and transportation.
