As a Senior Data Architect, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data architecture that supports the organisation’s data needs. You will collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, develop data models, and implement data solutions that drive business outcomes.

The Role

  • Data Strategy Development: Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective data strategies. Develop data architecture roadmaps that align with the organisation’s goals and objectives.
  • Data Modelling and Design: Design and implement logical and physical data models that support the organisation’s data requirements. Ensure that data structures are optimised for performance, scalability, and flexibility.
  • Data Integration and ETL: Oversee the integration of data from disparate sources into a cohesive data ecosystem. Develop Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to cleanse, transform, and load data into appropriate storage solutions.
  • Data Governance and Security: Establish data governance policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, privacy, and security of our data assets. Implement access controls, encryption, and other security measures to protect sensitive information.
  • Performance Optimisation: Monitor and optimise the performance of data systems to ensure efficiency and reliability. Identify and address bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement in data processing and storage.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand requirements and deliver data solutions that meet business needs. Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment and understanding.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Document data architecture designs, standards, and best practices. Facilitate knowledge sharing and provide training to ensure that team members understand and adhere to data architecture principles.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect or a similar role, with a strong understanding of data architecture principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in data modelling tools and techniques, with experience designing relational and dimensional data models.
  • Experience with data integration tools and techniques, including ETL processes and data warehousing solutions.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data security best practices, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Broad knowledge of a spectrum of current and emerging data and AI technologies.
  • Proven experience being accountable for designing, building and productionising modern data or AI intensive applications, including systems that are distributed and scalable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases and distributed data processing frameworks.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and using Agile methodologies for software development.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), AWS Certified Solutions Architect, etc.) are a plus.
